Dear Denise, I just wanted to share some good news with you. After scoring "proficient," just barely by single digits, ever since third grade in the Colorado CSAP, Doug's eighth grade reading score was strongly proficient in all areas. We are so excited! He had been working with Highline for less than six months! Now that he has "graduated" from vision therapy with such improvement, we can't wait to see what his ninth grade scores will be. More importantly, he is now able to remember what he reads and his overall confidence and grades are improving. He would still rather be outside than inside reading, but he just finished To Kill a Mockingbird for class and didn't need Spark Notes to understand! Thank you so much for all that you did identifying and helping Doug with his vision therapy. I have become an advocate for vision therapy and am constantly encouraging parents to consider having their child evaluated if he or she is having any difficulty with school. Sincerely, Connie (Doug's mom) |
